College of the Holy Cross StarTalk Master Teacher Program:
Developing Text - Level Literacy in Chinese Call for Participants

10 - day residential program July 23 – August 2, 2015

Eligibility: K - 16 Teachers of Chinese as a foreign language (CFL) who are US citizens or legal residents, with at least 3 - 5 years of full - time experience teaching Chinese as a foreign language in American classrooms. K - 5 and 6  - 8 teachers must have at least 3 years of experience; 9 - 12 and college level teachers must have at least 5 years of experience.

Goals : To develop level - appropriate web - based materials incorporating strategies to enhance text - level literacy for CFL learners in grades K - 5, 6 - 8, 9 - 12, and 13+.

Professional Development: Seminars with national leaders in the field of CFL learning and literacy development. Collaboration with CFL instructors from across the US to address reading comprehension and articulation of instruction across grade levels. Opportunities for presentation at national conferences.

Time/Place: 10 - day residential Program, July 23 - August 2, 2015, College of the Holy Cross, Worcester MA

Support: Full support for travel, meals (including daily dinners at area restaurants), and single occupancy accommodation in air - conditioned apartment - style dormitories. We cannot
accommodate family members or companions.
