Dr. Jeannine Subisak (范良琦老師) Passed away

05/16/2017

CLASS is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved former Board member Dr. Jeannine Subisak (范良琦老師)on May 7, 2017. Jeannine came from Taiwan, received her Ph.D. from Penn State, and moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1979. Jeannine became well recognized for her compassion and dedication as a teacher at Columbus Academy over the next 20 years. During that time, Jeannine built the school’s Chinese program from 2 to 160 students, and from one to three teachers. Year after year, she also organized a class trip to China and provided her students with their most precious immersion experience. In addition to her profound commitment to Columbus Academy, Jeannine had also made valuable contributions outside her school community: she was a regular presenter at CLASS/ACTFL annual conferences, she often provided guidance to new teachers, and she generously shared her teaching materials. Her last conference proposal in fact, was accepted for the 2016 CLASS/ACTFL Conference, but unfortunately, she was not able to present due to her illness. Jeannine served on the CLASS Board for four years, providingguidance and support to her fellow CLASS members. CLASS is mourning the loss of a model teacher and is forever grateful for her selfless service and dedication to the field.
