Description: The Position The Lower School Chinese Teaching Associate is responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons, assisting teacher with classroom management and implement teacher’s plans in small group and whole group lessons through the following areas of focus: • assist in the daily operations of the classroom, including correcting papers, preparing materials and assessing student performance • In coordination with the Teacher, plan and implement engaging lessons in alignment with the curriculum for individual, small and large group activities. • Provide for the physical safety of children through anticipation and removal of hazards, visual observation of children and by appropriately responding to injuries. • Support implementation of the teacher’s positive behavioral and social & emotional learning systems in the classroom and on the playground. • Support the educational program by challenging, supporting and engaging students. • Lead a study hall and perform duties in the Extended Day program.

Description: The Delaware Department of Education has an immediate opening to support the increasing number of Chinese immersion programs across the state. The Chinese Immersion Field Agent is a full-time position in the Language Acquisition Workgroup in the Teaching and Learning Branch at the Delaware Department of Education. Major responsibilities include providing regular and on-going coaching, curricular, and instructional support for Chinese immersion teachers and administrators across the state. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in immersion education, in Chinese language, or in elementary education with advanced-level language proficiency in Chinese. Three (3) years relevant work experience in elementary classroom teaching, immersion teaching, or elementary world language teaching is required.
